Description
The Road to Happiness, Tuscany
A quiet country road winds through the Tuscan countryside between two rows of tall cypress trees, beneath a wide, cloud-filled sky. The road naturally leads the eye deeper into the scene, while the changing light and open landscape create a peaceful feeling of space and movement.
Painted in a Post-Impressionist style, the work captures the atmosphere of the Italian countryside rather than simply reproducing the landscape. Tuscany is one of the places that has long inspired Lana Swan’s interest in light, colour and the relationship between nature and human presence.
The painting was created in 2021 and exhibited at the ART3f Mulhouse Art Fair, Parc Expo de Mulhouse, France, from 15 to 17 November 2024.
Medium: Oil on linen canvas
Size: 50 × 60 × 2 cm (19.69 × 23.62 × 0.79 in)
